Big family dinners, staying up for midnight mass, and the anticipation of what was waiting for me under the tree in the morning. Now having children of my own, I realize how much effort my parent's made to keep the magic alive in our house year after year. Thank you mom and dad!

This year we'll be celebrating Christmas with a new addition to the family with the recent birth of my neice. With two boys of my own (and five nephews born in the past few years) it's kind of exciting to have a baby girl in our midst again. She's super sweet and I can't wait for my boys to meet her on Christmas Eve. From our family to yours, Merry Christmas!

The stakes are high, the competitors ready but who will come out on top and be chosen as the winner?
In anticipation of Spring's arrival, I've just heard that our friends at Photojenic Photography are offering a mini Easter photo shoot special in March — and get this, for only $50. It's a steal in my mind, because you'll get a 20 minute session for your little ones and all your images on a DVD. We've done many photo cards here in the studio with images from Photojenic and the results never disappoint. These trees would be a great way to display custom printed photo ornaments or your kids' artwork — heck they even look pretty cool on their own. It sure is cold, and the sun hasn't been out for a few days now, so I thought I'd share a burst of colour with some new images that are being added to the gallery this month.

First up, a bridal shower invitation centred around one of the most popular colours in 2010 — turquoise. Some prefer tiffany blue, others aqua — for me this colour reminds me of my honeymoon in the beautiful Bahamas. It's the same colour as the clear water beaches and many of the whimsical houses lining the streets in town.

Below is a wedding stationery suite designed for a wonderful woman who moved out to the Durham region for the love of her life — despite a long commute every day to a job she cherishes delivering food to those in need at Second Harvest. When it came time to plan the big event she chose a colour she loved and stuck with it. Her custom black and white shimmer pocket invitations were hit with a burst of lavender and lilac that matched the bridesmaid's dresses, bouquets and individual mini wedding cakes that topped off every place setting. I love the look and it's no surprise this hue has landed in Pantone's Top Ten Colour Report for 2011.

And that's just what clients Sabrina and Dan set out to accomplish. With a stunning contrast of midnight blue, silvers and whites, everything flowed effortlessly together starting with their custom invitations sent out months before, to the gorgeous decor that sparkled at their evening reception.

The couple were engaged this past spring and jumped right in to their 2010 winter wedding with only six months to plan every detail. They chose to hire a wedding coordinator to help them achieve the look and feel they were after in such a short time frame. Rosemary, of Wrap Me Up, provided everything from flowers, centrepieces, to decor and favours. When it came time to design their custom invitations, everything from their chosen colours, style of decor and embellishments was taken into consideration. Upon opening the silver shimmer envelope, guests were given a glimpse of the celebration to come.

The couple were married in a traditional ceremony at St. Matthew's church in Oakville, Ontario. With a large wedding party of 24, it became apparent the decision they made to hire a wedding planner was a good one! And though it may have been cold outside for photographs, it didn't stop them from enjoying every moment. They celebrated (in warmth and style) with friends and family that evening at Le Treport in Mississauga, Ontario.

Winter weddings can be wonderful and often you can benefit with discounts and deals many vendors offer in what is considered the off-season for many wedding professionals. So don't be put off by the cold weather or chance of flurries — you could get everything you're dreaming of with a little cash left over to take off somewhere hot and sunny shortly after!
